How Moms Make It Work
”How do you make it all work?” That’s the question every mom whispers to another at preschool drop-off or baseball practice. As a mother of three who completely changed careers after my second child, I’ve been asking this question since my very first maternity leave. Welcome to ”How Moms Make it Work” – conversations with working mothers who do and don’t do it all. I’m Corrie Myers, and I’m bringing together incredible women from all stages of motherhood and career to share their honest journeys: when they took the promotion, when they scaled back, when they started businesses, and yes, when they burned it all down and started over. You’ll hear from new moms in the thick of it and seasoned mothers who are still figuring it out (because change really is the only constant). These fly-on-the-wall glimpses into how other mothers manage everything from childcare to therapy help us all ditch the unrealistic expectations and mom guilt about ”doing it all.” Each story serves as a permission slip to be the working mom YOU want to be, season by season. Wherever you’re at on your working mom journey, I’m so glad you’re here.

Ashton Smith is the founder of The Awakening and a first-time mom to 7-month-old Leo—and she’s learning in real time what it means to hold space for both.
This episode is for the mom who’s building something big while being needed every minute—by clients and a teething baby. Ashton gets honest about the tension of being both a business owner and a new parent, of running something she’s passionate about while surrendering to the unpredictability of motherhood. We talk about what surprised her most postpartum, how she’s reimagining success in this season, and why trusting yourself matters more than any parenting blueprint.
It’s raw, real, and a reminder that figuring it out as you go is still figuring it out. 😉

Cayla Horey has spent two decades developing leaders—and now she’s leading in a whole new way.
This episode is for the mom who wonders if pressing pause might derail everything. Spoiler: it might just be the beginning. Cayla talks about intentionally stepping back from a fast-paced leadership career to raise her three young kids (and navigate therapy appointments, homeschool logistics, and competitive dance drop-offs). Now, she runs a flourishing coaching practice while still being the “primary manager” of her household. We talk about building a business from the floor up (literally), how she knew it was time to re-enter the professional space, and what she’s teaching her daughters about work, worth, and what’s possible.Connect with our guest:IG: @caylahoreyWebsite: www.caylahorey.comConnect with your host:IG: @corriemyersWebsite: www.corriemyers.comMusic by John Brazell at johnbrazell.com

Julie Vlahon started her career chasing breaking news as a TV reporter—then pivoted to PR, launched her own social media business, and learned to shape work around her growing family. Now a mom of two school-aged kids on the cusp of the teen years, Julie shares how breast cancer shifted her priorities and how she and her husband continually redefine what their family actually needs in each season. From the nap-time hustle to naming her worth, this episode is a reminder that success can look softer, slower—and still wildly fulfilling.

Growing a business while pregnant and raising a toddler? Meg Evans is doing it—with a lot of intention, a little improvising, and yes, a side of mom guilt.
Meg—founder of Born to Roam Bookkeeping and mom of one (with another on the way)—opens up about what it’s really like to grow a business in the thick of new motherhood. From structuring her client work around nap time to navigating shifting childcare and planning a more intentional maternity leave, this conversation is equal parts honest, insightful, and refreshingly real.
Whether you're balancing a baby on your hip or a laptop on your desk (or both), this episode will remind you that you're not alone—and that the “right way” is whatever works for your family this season.

In this deeply moving conversation, Erin Resteiner—a business leader, mom of three boys, and mother to Kit, the daughter she lost during pregnancy—shares her journey of holding both grief and joy while building multiple thriving businesses.
As owner of Highway Brewing Company and Kits (named in honor of her daughter), Erin shares how learning to delegate and trust her team has allowed her to be fully present whether in business-owner mode or mom mode. She opens up about transforming her personal experience with loss into creating Kits and now "Soulful Shores" retreats, where women reconnect with their vibrant selves beyond their roles and responsibilities. Erin's practical wisdom about offloading tasks that drain your energy and building meaningful community demonstrates that when you resource yourself fully, everything around you transforms.

She had it all—big career, smart kids, fancy job title. But it wasn’t working. So Alex Abramian made a change. What she found on the other side of that decision might just change how you think about motherhood, ambition, and what balance actually looks like.
In this very real conversation, Alex—a PR expert and single mom of twins now in college—offers the perspective that moms of young kids crave, candidly admitting that "something has to give" when juggling career and motherhood. She shares her journey of leaving The Hollywood Reporter (!!) to create a work/life rhythm where she could be the mom at home in the afternoon. Alex opens up about the emotional turning point of crying at red lights on her way to work, how her daughter's "you've become that mom" moment validated her career pivot, and the unexpected freedom of an empty nest that isn't entirely empty.

Let's be real: no one is doing it all. And if it looks like they are, it's because they've owned what they can and cannot do. The magic of motherhood happens when women like me and you vulnerably and confidently share how we do (and don't) do it all.
Welcome to the trailer for "How Moms Make it Work," a podcast for moms who want to juggle a big career and motherhood, moms who want to slow their pace and spend more time at home, and everything in between. I'm Corrie Myers, a former educator turned business owner and mom of three. In this trailer, you'll get a glimpse of what this podcast is about. So if you're a working mom or want to become one, start here.
